Vladimir Sitnikov was born in the village of Krasnoe, not far from Kostroma. In 1947 he enrolled in the Krasnoselskaya School for artistic processing of metals, then graduated from the Art Department of the Moscow Technological Institute. In 1961-1963 Vladimir Sitnikov taught jewelry at the Krasnoselsky school, the only educational institution in the country for artistic processing of metals. Then he accepted an offer to work as the main designer at Moscow Jewelry Factory, participated in numerous international and domestic exhibitions. He was the chief artist of the Experimental Jewelry Laboratory of the Gokhran of the USSR and a scientific consultant. The works of Vladimir Sitnikov continue the best jewelry traditions of the 18th century.
